March Newsletter

Exeter and Exmouth TAGB Tae Kwon Do

As we move into the warmer, brighter days, March has been a little quieter for many of us. That’s not to say the time hasn’t been used wisely — plenty of members have been preparing for competitions or working towards their own Tae Kwon-Do goals. And during this period, we’ve had some huge successes… read on to find out more!

European Championships

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel as a club! Last month, Laila and Ethan travelled to Davos, Switzerland to compete in the TI European Championships. This is a competition where the very best attend, meaning the standard was extremely high.

After all their hard work and dedication in training, they delivered outstanding performances on the European stage:

Laila

  • Gold – Individual Patterns
  • Gold – Individual Point-Stop Sparring
  • Bronze – Continuous Sparring

Ethan

  • Silver – Individual Patterns
  • Silver – Team Sparring

An amazing achievement from both competitors. Their commitment, courage, and willingness to travel and represent the club is truly inspiring. We are so proud of you both — well done!

We hope their success inspires many more of you to take part in events like this. Competitions of this level don’t come around often, but the experience gained from international competition is unlike anything else.

Easter Holidays

With the Easter holidays starting at the end of this week, we will be running a reduced timetable to give everyone some well-earned time off. Make sure you take some time to rest and recuperate, as many of you will be returning to colour belt gradings and competitions shortly after.

  • No class on Saturday 4th April
  • No class on Easter Monday (6th April)
  • Monday 13th April – one hour of training only

Classes will run as normal for the remainder of the holidays. See below for the full timetable.

Black Belts

You have one remaining session to secure your stamp for the first half of the year. Book using the link below to avoid missing out.

Please also check that the slip in the front of your licence book is up to date. If you require a new one, please let Miss Searle know as soon as possible.

Colour Belt Grading

This grading is coming around fast! With the Easter holidays separating us from the countdown to pre-grading, it will be here before we know it. Be sure to check whether you are due to grade and decide if you feel ready to take on the challenge.

If you are planning to grade, try to attend as many training sessions as possible to prepare — ideally at least twice a week.

Pre-Grading
Thursday 30th April – 6:00pm
St Luke’s (Dance Studio)

Grading
Sunday 10th May – 9:30am
Cranbrook Education Campus

Welsh Championships

The Welsh Championships is our favourite national competition of the year — and it’s just over a month away! For black belts, this is a great opportunity to secure your “national competition” stamp. More generally, it’s a fantastic event for everyone to get involved in.

Not only is it one of the closest national competitions to us, but it’s also held in the largest venue — Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Sports Arena. Keep an eye on our socials and communications for the competition pack and entry form.

Fresh Look for the Club!

As many of you are aware, we have been working hard behind the scenes to finalise our new club doboks. These are now ready and available to order!

We placed a limited order, so they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Many adult sizes have already sold out, but there are still plenty of junior sizes available.
