March Newsletter

Exeter and Exmouth TAGB Tae Kwon Do

We would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter & we hope you had a lovely long weekend with family & friends. March was another busy month for the club, with lots of success again!

Here's a round-up of what happened in March...

English Championships: This competition is not always on our radar as a club, as it often comes so quickly after the South-West champs in Weston-super-Mare. Only a small group of students therefore attended, but they all did amazingly well. Laila, Pablo and Miss Searle competed as well as our guest students Tamsin and Grace. It was an extremely tough competition and the standard was very high, but still some great results on the day:

Laila: Gold in Individual Sparring, Bronze in Patterns, and Gold in Team Patterns

Grace: Gold in Patterns and Bronze in Individual Sparring

Tamsin: Bronze in Sparring

Black Belt Pre-Grading: Mr McClaughlin, Mr Darrie-Laye and Joel Bijo were all in Malmesbury the next day for their pre-grading. We are pleased to announce that all three students passed and are now onto the next stage of the grading process. Be sure to congratulate them when you next see them.

**COMPULSORY BLACK BELT TRAINING: This is your final reminder for all black belts to book onto one of the compulsory training sessions to get your stamp for this half of the year. The link to register for either of these session can be found HERE.**

Upcoming Events for your Diaries:

The Easter Social is next Thursday the 11th of April at 6:30pm at Tenpin Bowling. It looks like we will have over 40 people there which will be amazing! Mr Cheriton has been negotiating with Tenpin and has been able to secure a price of £10 per person for 2 games of bowling with a meal. We are in the process of confirming whether we need to pre-order food. Once this is sorted, we will send an update in the group chats. We look forward to seeing you there!

Easter Training Times: Our training times over the Easter holidays have been posted both in the groups chats as well as our social media pages. Most of the sessions are running as normal, but please do check to be sure as there are a few changes to be aware of.

If you don't already follow our Facebook & Instagram accounts, then head over to both pages and follow them. Any additional support such as likes, shares & follows all make a huge difference in promoting the club.

Black Belt Grading (19th to 21st April): Mr McClaughlin, Mr Darrie-Laye and Joel Bijo will be attempting the final stage of their black belt grading. Wish them luck when you next see them in training!

Colour Belt Grading (Sunday 12th May): The next colour belt grading will come round very quickly, so it's good to be aware of it now. Please check with your instructor whether you are eligible to grade this time. It will be held in the usual venue at Cranbrook Education Campus from 9:00 / 9:30am onwards.

The colour belt pre-grading will therefore be held on Monday the 6th of May during the St Luke's session from 6pm onwards. All students who are eligible to grade MUST attend this pre-grading.

Please note that this will run in place of the training sessions for that evening. Any black belts are welcome to help with theory or additional support at the back of the hall, but please note that there will not be any training after the pre-grading.

Welsh Championships (Sunday 19th May): This is one of our favourite competitions of the year! It's a great national competition to get involved in - it is not too far away, the venue has lots of spaces around the areas and there is plenty of seating for spectators. We will be sending out the entry forms and competition pack within the next week.

Our website is now up and running. Please take a look and let us know what you think (feedback is always welcome). All these events mentioned above can be found in the 'events' tab. This is where you can register for black belt training sessions, find competition packs and entry forms, as well as dates for our colour belt gradings, pre-gradings and socials!
